Sixteen years ago my daughter, Mimi was born on April 13, 1998. I had contracted lupus (SLE) when I was just 25 years old. I prayed for a third child until I was almost 30 years old. But my lupus was still working in my life with a vengeance. Sometime during that time, I stopped praying for a third child, believing that it would never happen. Then, in 1995, the doctor told me that I was in remission! We waited a couple of years to make sure that my disease would not come back again. Then, I was blessed with little Mimi. She was everything that I could of asked for in a child.
Yesterday, she celebrated her 16th birthday. I remembered what a miracle my little girl was when I first saw her in the hospital in Tokyo, Japan. It seems like yesterday.
I have been shown so much grace through her life!
